"You see, but you do not observe." Sherlock Holmes points out to Watson in A Scandal in Bohemia. This sentence has stuck with me for many years, because of its truth. We see a lot in a day but we rarely take the time to really look. For instance, you see the flight of stairs you go up and down each day, but do you know how many steps there are? Seeing and observing are different as one uses visuals and the other, thought. How do you think Sherlock was so good at spotting clues? Shifting your perspective can really open a whole new world of insight. Give it a try.
